Annex C of Itaipu Treaty: Start of negotiations is postponed at the request of Brazil

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The meeting summoned for October 26 to start the revision of Annex C of Binational Itaipu was postponed for a new date to be confirmed by Paraguay and Brazil Chancellors’.

It was confirmed on past Tuesday by official sources of the Presidency of the Republic. The suspension follows, according to what has been said, the request of Luis Inácio «Lula» da Silva’s government.

The meeting was meant for tomorrow, October 26, at 10 a.m. in Brasilia. On occasion, the negotiations on the review of Annex C of the Itaipu Treaty between Paraguay and Brazil were going to begin.

The reunion that was due to be led by Presidents Santiago Peña and Luis Inácio «Lula» da Silva is postponed for a new date to be agreed between the Chancellors of Paraguay and Brazil.

The General Director of the Binational Itaipu of the Brazilian side, Enio Verri, and the General Director of the Paraguayan side, Justo Zacarías Irún, were also summoned to participate in the beginning of the process for the revision of Annex C of the Binational.
