Asunción, Agencia IP.- From June 26 to 28, Paraguay will host the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) in an event expected to gather around 1,200 people.
Paraguay, as the host country, will take a leading role in discussions and negotiations, particularly regarding the fight against transnational organized crime, according to authorities from the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The inauguration will be on the night of Wednesday, June 26, at the Central Bank of Paraguay, in a ceremony attended by the President of the Republic, Santiago Peña.
The assembly sessions will be held at the Conmebol in Luque on Thursday, June 27, and Friday, June 28. As a preliminary activity, on June 26, there will be two dialogues between the heads of the present delegations with civil organizations and permanent observers. Both will take place at the Paraguayan Olympic Committee.
In total, including the delegations present and international press members, between 1,000 and 1,200 people are expected.
The 54th OAS Assembly will bring together representatives of the member countries of the multilateral organization, 74 permanent observers, and about 482 civil society organizations in Asunción.
