Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Executive Secretary for Integral Development at the Organization of American States (OAS), Kim Hurtault-Osborne, invited the Minister of Labor, Mónica Recalde, to lead the debates on the impact of new technologies in the labor field during the Inter-American Conference of Ministers of Labor, which will take place in October in Colombia.
The request was presented during a meeting held yesterday, Wednesday, at the Ministry of Labor’s headquarters. Kim Hurtault-Osborne was accompanied by María Claudia Camacho, head of the organization’s Labor and Employment Section, who is in the country for the OAS General Assembly.
The following Labor Ministers of America conference will address social dialogue around the platform economy and the impact of artificial intelligence in the labor sector. Paraguay aims to participate in the speakers’ table and lead one of the specialized discussion panels.
In this regard, Minister Recalde commented that Paraguay, like the other countries in the region, is moving towards technological transformation in the work field.
Minister Recalde also highlighted that Paraguay is currently engaged in a parliamentary debate on labor regulations for companies operating digital mobility and home delivery platforms. This ongoing discussion underscores the country’s relevance and makes its participation in the international event particularly timely and significant.
The Inter-American Conference of Ministers of Labor (CIMT) is one of the oldest sectoral conferences of the OAS. Since 1963, the Ministers of Labor of the hemisphere have met periodically in this forum, considered the main space for debate and decision-making on labor policies and actions.
The Minister of Labor was accompanied at the meeting by the Vice Minister of Labor, César Segovia, and the Director General of Planning and Cooperation, Joryan Rossati.
