«Paraguayan beef is very consumed»: Boric stands out our beef in the Chilean market

Asunción, Agencia IP.- President Gabriel Boric highlighted that Paraguayan beef stands out in his country’s markets. «Paraguayan meat is highly consumed,» he stated during his activities on his first official visit to Paraguay.

Chile has become the main buyer of Paraguayan beef, maintaining this leadership for years. In the first half of this year, 40% of exports were destined for the Andean country’s market.

President Santiago Peña celebrated the great prestige of national meat production, contributing to a trade balance of over USD 1.6 billion annually. «Chile was the number one market for beef in 2019, and since 2020, Paraguay has been the most important supplier,» he emphasized.

The Paraguayan leader, however, expressed his desire to increase this commercial exchange to the levels that Chile maintains with Colombia and Peru.

To this end, business people from Paraguay and Chile discussed this on Wednesday as part of Gabriel Boric’s official visit. This visit will also include signing agreements to update a deal to eliminate double taxation on investments and another agreement in the cultural field.
