Joshua Duerksen makes history in Azerbaijan by winning the F2 sprint race

Asunción, Agencia IP.- For the first time, Paraguayan driver Joshua Duerksen finished first in an F2 race, a category in which he made his debut this year. This milestone was achieved in the sprint race held this morning in Baku, Azerbaijan.

In doing so, the young driver places Paraguay in a distinguished position for the first time, finishing first in an F2 race.

Duerksen started the race in fourth position but took the lead on lap 13 to secure his first victory.

With nine laps remaining, Duerksen took the lead and, through an outstanding performance, stayed ahead of American driver Jak Crawford.

Duerksen was heard celebrating his victory with his team in a euphoric tone. «Thank you all, we finally did it,» he said.

«For you all, for you, Paraguay. Let them say we can’t do it; we know that’s a lie. We are strong; we conquer or die,» he later said on social media.

Duerksen had already achieved two podium finishes in Italy, but this was his first absolute victory. Thus, he became the first Paraguayan to accomplish this milestone in motorsport.

The final race in Baku will be tomorrow, September 15, at 3:35 a.m. Paraguayan time.
