Asunción, Agencia IP.- During his visit to the United States, the President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, met with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, where he reaffirmed Paraguay’s commitment to Ukraine’s cause and peace in the country.
«Our commitment to Ukraine is a commitment to peace. Paraguay, a country that knows well the devastating consequences of war, reaffirms its unwavering support for Ukraine in these difficult times,» said President Peña, referring to the meeting held in New York.
«Today, more than ever, we stand with you in your fight for peace, justice, and freedom. We cannot remain indifferent to the horrors you face because we know what is at stake: the future of the next generations,» the Paraguayan leader added through his official social media channels.
Peña reaffirmed, «It is time to unite our voices and actions in one call: peace must prevail.»
President Zelensky spoke about the situation on the battlefield and the outcomes of the first Peace Summit.
During the meeting, the heads of state also discussed regional and global security challenges, prospects for trade and economic cooperation, and exchanges of experience in mining and agriculture. Additionally, they tasked their teams with exploring the most promising areas for cooperation.
