Asunción, Agencia IP.- Over 7,000 vulnerable children and adolescents in Paraguay have improved their living conditions thanks to a sponsorship program supported by benefactors from Korea and Taiwan. This program, operating in communities in the departments of Central, Cordillera, and San Pedro, has assisted in education, health, and social protection, as highlighted by María de la Paz Brown, representative of Good Neighbors Paraguay, during the Tribuna program on Paraguay TV.
The sponsorship system includes a series of benefits, such as access to quality education, medical care coordinated with the Ministry of Health, and social support with the backing of the Ministry of Children and Adolescents. «We work to lift children out of poverty with comprehensive approaches in key areas such as education, health, and nutrition, along with recreational and cultural activities,» Brown stated.
Good Neighbors Paraguay focuses on improving educational opportunities by providing school supplies, tutoring, and scholarships to ensure the continuity of children’s education. In terms of health, the organization implements medical care and nutritional education programs in collaboration with the Ministry of Health’s Family Health Units. Additionally, workshops and recreational activities are promoted to foster the children’s overall development, helping them cultivate skills and creativity.
The program also promotes local economic development through initiatives like the Frutiguá project, which focuses on strawberry cultivation and processing in Areguá. This project aims to improve the local economy through sustainable agriculture and job creation. Farmers receive training on agricultural practices, crop management, and post-harvest techniques to ensure product quality. Additionally, facilities have been set up to process strawberries into jams, juices, and other products, generating added value and establishing direct connections with local and regional markets.
As part of its commitment to youth, Good Neighbors has launched the Club Media program, which seeks to develop digital content creation and video editing skills among young people in Mariano Roque Alonso. This initiative focuses especially on promoting the rights of children and adolescents and preparing future communicators with the tools they need to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
Through these programs, Good Neighbors Paraguay continues to provide opportunities to improve the quality of life for thousands of children and their communities, strengthening their holistic development and empowering families toward a better future.
