Asunción, Agencia IP.- The foreign trade balance as of October registered a surplus of USD 57.1 million, according to data published by the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP). Total exports were lower compared to the same month last year.
According to details provided by the BCP, total exports as of October 2024 amounted to USD 13,664.9 million, 4.5% below the USD 14,310.5 million recorded by October of the previous year.
Registered exports accounted for 70.2% of the total, reaching USD 9,596.3 million, a 4.0% decline compared to the accumulated value as of October 2023.
Re-exports, representing 23.4% of the total, registered a value of USD 3,191.0 million, with an accumulated decrease of 10.2%.
Other exports, which accounted for 6.4% of the total, recorded an accumulated increase of 14.7%, amounting to USD 877.5 million.
The observed decline in registered exports was mainly due to lower electricity sales, reduced corn exports, and a drop in the prices of soybean meal and oil.
As of October 2024, total imports reached USD 13,607.7 million, 5.1% higher than the USD 12,946.6 million recorded during the same period last year.
Registered imports accounted for 97.1% of the total, reaching a value of USD 13,216.7 million, 6.6% higher than the accumulated value as of October 2023.
Other imports represented the remaining 2.9%, amounting to USD 391.0 million, a 29.3% reduction compared to the accumulated value in October of the previous year. In volume terms, an increase of 13.3% was observed.
