Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Minister of Industry and Commerce (MIC) of Paraguay, Javier Giménez, held the first working meeting on economic cooperation with his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thani Al Zeyoudi.
The working group’s inaugural session discussed strengthening relations between the two countries in areas such as logistics, energy, and food security. According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), the possibility of UAE investments in data centers for artificial intelligence and projects like the dredging of the Paraguay River was also analyzed.
Rediex Deputy Minister Rodrigo Maluff and the commercial attaché in the UAE, Paola Subeldía, participated in the meeting. Juma Al Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for International Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Economy of the Emirates, represented the UAE.
Roadmap
Deputy Minister Maluff stated that this initial session between the ministers of Paraguay and the UAE established a roadmap for the next two years.
«We know that among the Gulf countries, the UAE is the one with which Paraguay currently has the most dynamic relationship, and we aim to build national development through this partnership. We believe that from here, we can not only serve as a hub for exporting food to the Arab world but also provide the region’s best Halal certification for them,» he remarked.
In addition, to attract more Emirati investments, Paraguayan authorities presented the Maquila Regime for foreign investment and Paraguay’s goal of becoming a regional hub for technology and sustainable investment, leveraging the generation of clean and renewable energy.
