Black Friday in Ciudad del Este generated nearly $300 million in sales, and 95% of shoppers came from Brazil

Asunción, Agencia IP.- According to the Chamber of Commerce and Services of Ciudad del Este, approximately 240,000 people visited the city’s shopping centers between Thursday and Sunday to take advantage of Black Friday deals. Sales exceeded last year’s figures by 20%, reaching $300 million, reported the Chamber’s president to Agencia IP.

«The total sales amounted to approximately $300 million. Last year, it was $260 million. This year, we had a 20% increase in sales, reaching $300 million,» stated Said Taigen, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Services of Ciudad del Este.

Over the four-day Black Friday event, 240,000 shoppers visited the capital of Alto Paraná to take advantage of the discounts. According to estimates from the Chamber of Commerce, 95% of these were from Brazil, with the remaining 5% being shoppers from Argentina and Paraguay.

«All the businesses in the downtown area benefited. The security measures implemented contributed to business owners working with great focus and peace of mind, and tourists felt very safe and comfortable while shopping,» said Taigen, describing the event as a «total success.»

He highlighted that the most sold items included electronics and IT products, perfumes, cosmetics, alcoholic beverages, and clothing.

Black Friday is an annual event held in the capital of Alto Paraná. Due to its strategic location on the borders with Brazil and Argentina, combined with attractive pricing in various sectors, the city serves as a central commercial hub in the Southern Cone.
