Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro is hosting the G20 Leaders’ Summit this Monday and Tuesday, bringing together leaders from 55 countries and organizations. President of the Republic Santiago Peña is scheduled to deliver a speech in the afternoon as a guest nation representative.
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio “Lula” da Silva welcomed presidents and heads of state from the world’s 20 largest economies this morning, including members of the G7 and emerging economies. Paraguayan President Santiago Peña was among the first to be greeted by the Brazilian leader at the Rio de Janeiro Museum of Modern Art, where the G20 discussions began on Monday.
The summit will address three pivotal topics to which Paraguay has significant contributions. These include social inclusion and the fight against hunger and poverty, the reform of global governance institutions, and sustainable development alongside energy transition. The event will also feature the launch of the «Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty,» an initiative spearheaded by the Brazilian government, in which Paraguay is an active participant.
Peña is attending the summit with a special invitation from the host, Luiz Inácio “Lula” da Silva. According to the Paraguayan Presidency, the president will deliver his address in the afternoon. The summit is expected to conclude with a joint declaration outlining concrete stances and measures regarding the issues discussed.
