Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguayan Formula 2 driver Joshua Duerksen crowned his brilliant rookie year in the category by winning the main race at the Abu Dhabi circuit. «Many did not believe in me; a lot was said… but a Paraguayan never gives up; we take the negative and turn it into positive,» he said.
Duerksen claimed victory in the Feature Race in Abu Dhabi for the first time in his career, capping a successful year that also included a win in the Sprint Race in Baku last September.
«This victory is dedicated to God and especially to all the people who never stopped believing in me. Among those people are my family, my team, my sponsors, and you, my followers,» the Paraguayan driver shared through a social media post.
«There was no better way to close the year than this,» he added, expressing his firm ambition to reach Formula 1, the pinnacle of motorsport.
With the 25 points earned from this victory, Duerksen brought his total score to 87, placing him among the top ten in the overall standings for the category.
Brazilian driver Gabriel Bortoleto ended the year as the overall champion of the category.
