Paraguay, a paradise to discover: Must-visit destinations in the country

Asunción, Agencia IP.- In a recent broadcast of the program Tribuna on Paraguay TV, Deisy Varela, Director of Tourism Services at the National Tourism Secretariat (Senatur), shared her enthusiasm for the cultural, natural, and gastronomic treasures that make Paraguay a unique destination for both locals and foreigners.

During her presentation, Varela highlighted the importance of appreciating the country’s national tourist attractions with pride: «Our nature, our culture, our gastronomy… imagine what transcends beyond vori vori, for example. How can we not appreciate the beauty of our resources, our tourist attractions now waiting for Paraguayans to visit and enjoy?»

She mentioned emerging destinations such as Encarnación, expanding its reputation beyond its well-known beach, and the experiential circuit in Alto Paraná. This circuit combines nature and culture through Indigenous guides, offering an immersive experience that connects visitors with the country’s history and ancestral traditions.

Given the growing range of tourism options, Varela emphasized the importance of planning trips safely and responsibly. She recommended using official platforms like Registur, which lists travel agencies, accommodations, and guides authorized by Senatur, thereby avoiding scams and ensuring service quality. «We are always encouraging the public to visit this page to get informed and avoid any setbacks,» she noted.

Paraguay also provides nearby options that are ideal for short getaways. Varela highlighted the Cordillera department, which has attractions such as Caacupé and Piribebuy. The latter is known for themed experiences like the Moringa Tour and the Caña Route. Additionally, Piribebuy is home to the iconic Poncho Para’í, recently declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.

Other destinations mentioned included Tobatí, known for its artisan workshops and natural landscapes like Cerro Kavaju, and Pirayú, a place rich in history that hosts picturesque gastronomic fairs every Saturday. «Paraguay has much to offer, from themed circuits to high-quality tourist lodges. We need to stay informed and enjoy it,» Varela emphasized.

The director invited both Paraguayans and foreigners to explore the country, highlighting that Senatur has personnel ready to answer questions and guide travelers.  «We are always available to help make the experience unforgettable,» she affirmed.

In this way, Senatur reaffirms its commitment to positioning Paraguay as a competitive, accessible, and safe tourist destination where cultural richness, natural beauty, and local hospitality combine to offer unique experiences.
