U.S. Congress Members interested in visiting Paraguay

Asunción, Agencia IP.- According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Members of the Appropriations Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives have announced their intention to officially visit Paraguay during their tour of Peru and Argentina in March.

The representatives plan to meet with President Santiago Peña, Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez, and Defense Minister Óscar González.

The report states that the bipartisan delegation is interested in learning about Paraguay’s defense-related requests and exploring opportunities to strengthen collaboration in security and energy, which are of great importance to both countries.

During his last official visit to the United States, President Santiago Peña invited the congress members to Paraguay.

In August, Paraguay welcomed seven members of the House of Representatives as part of the Executive Branch’s efforts to strengthen relations with the U.S. Congress. Previously, Peña had received then-Senator Marco Rubio, now the Secretary of State in Donald Trump’s new administration.
