Paraguay’s positioning as a regional capital for forest industrialization advances

Asunción, Agencia IP.- In an effort to further strengthen the forestry sector, position Paraguay as a key regional hub, and promote wood industrialization, Minister of Industry and Commerce Javier Giménez met with executives from CAF-AM and Paracel. The discussions focused on strategies to boost investment funds and consolidate the forestry value chain in Paraguay.

The Deputy Ministers of Industry, Marco Riquelme, and of Rediex, Javier Viveros, were also present at the meeting.

Regarding the matter, Deputy Minister Riquelme stated that discussions are underway with CAF Asset Management (CAF-AM) to assess the creation and management of an investment fund to channel international resources into the forestry sector.

He emphasized the goal of attracting targeted investments for reforestation, industrialization, transportation, and the sale of carbon credits.

Additionally, he highlighted the crucial role of multinational companies such as Paracel, whose presence in the country has significantly impacted the economy and employment. He noted that such investments can potentially transform regions like Concepción.

A collaborative ecosystem

For his part, CAF-AM General Manager Alberto Ñecco pointed out that Paraguay has ideal conditions for implementing top-tier forestry projects, positioning itself as a global investment attraction hub.

He mentioned that during the meeting with MIC Minister Javier Giménez, they discussed the growth of initiatives such as the Paracel and Silvipar projects, the expansion of cultivated hectares, and projected investments across the entire logistics chain. He also highlighted that these developments drive forestry production and create a multiplier effect in key sectors such as transportation and industrialization, benefiting the whole population.

Representatives from both institutions also explored exchanging experiences and strategies to promote the sector. Additionally, CAF-AM reaffirmed its commitment to contributing knowledge and expertise to consolidate the forestry industry in Paraguay in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
