Paraguayan Ministry of Environment reaffirms commitment to sustainable development and ozone layer protection

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (Mades) reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and the protection of the ozone layer by promoting best practices in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector.

In this context, Mades, through the General Directorate of Air, held the first regular meeting of the year of the Committee on Best Practices in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning to discuss key issues in the field.

During the session, discussions covered current regulations and the approval of a regulatory decree aligned with Paraguay’s commitments under the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol.

The meeting also analyzed granting quotas for hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), substances regulated by Mades.

Additionally, the General Directorate of Air and the Ozone Department presented their annual work plan and future projects aimed at the refrigeration sector. Among the key initiatives are the Inventory of Ozone-Depleting Substances (ODS) Banks, measures to improve energy efficiency, and the implementation of the Hydrofluorocarbon Reduction Plan, according to the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development.
