Asunción, Agencia IP.- The President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, held a bilateral meeting with the recently inaugurated President of Uruguay, Yamandú Orsi. The Paraguayan leader emphasized the collaborative work that both authorities will carry out.
Orsi assumed the Presidency of Uruguay for the 2025-2030 term on Saturday, March 1. Last Sunday, he began a series of bilateral meetings with attending presidents, including Santiago Peña.
«We have many similarities: size, commonalities, and fairly similar levels of development,» stated the Paraguayan President after the meeting. He noted that there is «an extensive bilateral agenda» with Uruguay and expressed his enthusiasm for working with Orsi.
As part of his first day as President, Yamandú Orsi held a press conference with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in which he confirmed that finalizing the Mercosur-European Union (EU) agreement is one of the priorities of his foreign policy.
