Asunción, Agencia IP.- The President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga, will visit Paraguay and participate in a discussion forum on April 1 in the convention hall of the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP).
According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), this will be the senior executive’s first official visit to Paraguay.
The discussion forum will take place on April 1 at 11:00 a.m. in the Central Bank of Paraguay convention hall. National authorities, representatives of the private sector, and experts in economics and development will attend.
On this occasion, key topics will be addressed regarding the World Bank’s role in the region and opportunities for cooperation with Paraguay in strategic areas for economic growth and poverty reduction.
His visit comes as ties between the Paraguayan government and the World Bank are strengthening. This follows a recent meeting between President Santiago Peña and Banga, during which they discussed Paraguay’s economic performance and structural reform plan.
In its latest report on Paraguay, the World Bank highlighted that the country has «a promising future,» emphasizing the remarkable economic progress achieved over the past two decades thanks to institutional reforms focused on macroeconomic stability and trade openness.
The organization also underscored Paraguay’s potential to become a high-income country, provided it implements a comprehensive strategy to address its current challenges.
