Asunción, Agencia IP.- The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, met with authorities from Taiwan’s International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF). During the meeting, they discussed cooperation, including establishing a technology business incubator, strengthening local capacities, and training young talent.
The meeting, held last Wednesday at Mburuvicha Róga, was part of efforts to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Paraguay and Taiwan. Participants included Secretary-General Yu-Lin Huang, Ambassador José Chih-Cheng Han, and the Polytechnic University of Taiwan Rector Jorge Duarte.
The meeting advanced a cooperation agenda for development, covering multiple areas such as education, technology transfer, and the promotion of emerging sectors like artificial intelligence (AI).
«Today, we share the vision of President Paraguay’s AI development and many important concepts of how these two countries could work together for future AI development. So we are very happy to have this opportunity to share our cooperating concepts with the President,» said the Secretary-General.
He emphasized that both Paraguay and Taiwan share common visions regarding artificial intelligence.
As part of this cooperation, installing a technology business incubator, strengthening local capacities, and training young talent are planned. In this context, 28 Paraguayans will travel to Taiwan in May to receive training on AI-related topics.
For his part, Jorge Duarte, the Rector of the Taiwan-Paraguay Polytechnic University (UPTP), emphasized that one of the main objectives is to position Paraguay as a regional innovation hub based in the Digital District.
«Taiwan is a strategic ally of Paraguay in all matters related to technological advancement,» he highlighted.
