Asunción, Agencia IP.- For Paraguay’s National Day at the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, 62 businesspeople, mostly of Japanese or Nikkei descent, will showcase the country’s economic potential and investment opportunities.
Naoki Nagaoka, president of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Paraguay, highlighted the delegation’s enthusiasm and commitment to promoting the country. Of the 62 members, 20 are from the Chamber, and 42 are Paraguayan businesspeople from various companies.
Paraguay’s National Day will be held on May 19 as part of the universal exhibition, which will run from April 13 to October 13. «We will participate in presentations, and, in a way, we are supporting Paraguay’s presence at this important fair,» Nagaoka said in an interview with Paraguay TV.
This trip holds special significance as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Paraguay, which was established in May 1975.
Additionally, the businessman shared that the delegation’s itinerary includes meetings in other cities such as Tokyo, Kobe, Kyoto, and Osaka.
Paraguayan cuisine in Japan
Beyond the official activities at the Expo, Paraguay will make its presence felt in Japan’s gastronomic scene, led by Mika Nishijima, a Paraguayan journalist of Japanese descent and a reference for Japanese culture in Paraguay. Nishijima outlined that her agenda in Japan will include key events to promote the country’s culinary richness.
«On May 29, I will give a masterclass on Paraguayan cuisine at the only Paraguayan restaurant in Japan, in Tokyo, where the star dishes will be sopa paraguaya (corn and cheesecake) and vori vori (soup with corn dumplings),» she explained.
Paraguay’s presence in Osaka is also active on social media, where interested parties can stay informed about the ongoing agenda via Instagram.
