Monument honoring José Asunción Flores inaugurated in Moscow

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Embassy of Paraguay in Moscow inaugurated a monument in honor of maestro José Asunción Flores, creator of the musical genre guarania, which was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO last December.

The ceremony took place to celebrate the 214th anniversary of Paraguay’s National Independence. It brought together ambassadors from the United States, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Uruguay, as well as representatives of the Apostolic Nunciature, delegates from Chile and Peru, senior officials from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and business leaders.

The inauguration was led by Ambassador Víctor Hugo Peña Bareiro, Marina Zakharenko, General Director of the Foreign Languages Library; Dimitry Belov, Minister of the Russian Foreign Ministry; and Miguel Palacio, Deputy Director of the Library.

The event also featured a cultural segment with Paraguayan songs and dances. It concluded with a buffet of traditional Paraguayan cuisine, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
