Asunción, Agencia IP.- The private sector celebrated the official implementation of zero tariffs for Paraguayan pork, highlighting the resources and jobs this economic segment generates for the country.

The Republic of China (Taiwan) has officially established a zero tariff on pork, which will come into effect on July 5. Government sources emphasized that this historic achievement will change Paraguay’s exports by providing greater opportunities to industries that create jobs.

In a press conference, Marta Mareco, president of the Paraguayan Chamber of the Pork and Pork Products Industry, emphasized that joint work between the public and private sectors was key to securing the zero tariff for pork exports to Taiwan.

She noted that this achievement comes after 30 years, adding, «We are now playing in the big leagues.» This was after a previous meeting with President Santiago Peña at Mburuvicha Róga.

She also stated that this benefit will extend to small-scale producers in the sector. «Let’s keep working for a developed and equitable Paraguay,» she stressed.
