Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Surgical Specialties Hospital of the Social Security Institute (IPS) Ingavi welcomed a group of distinguished neurosurgeons from the United States and Brazil as part of an international cooperation project to enhance neurosurgery development in Paraguay.
This visit is part of an ongoing collaboration with the University of Wisconsin–Madison, focused on promoting academic and clinical exchange and sharing innovative experiences in neurosurgical management. One of the key topics discussed was the implementation of the ZAP-X system—a cutting-edge radiosurgery technology—and the development of a stratified protocol for managing cranial trauma in Paraguay.
The hospital’s director, Dr. Osmar Amarilla, praised the international experts’ presence and emphasized the importance of maintaining strong ties with partner institutions such as the Solidarity Bridge Foundation, which promotes humanitarian and educational initiatives in the health sector.
In addition to the exchange between neurosurgeons, the visit had a strong educational component. The hospital reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing training of nursing staff, surgical technologists, and medical students, aligning with international neurosurgery advancements and standards.
The meeting took place in the hospital’s Neurosurgery Department and was attended by renowned professionals including Dr. Juan Jara, Head of Neurosurgery at IPS Ingavi; Dr. Oscar Servín, Head of Neurosurgery at the Central Hospital; Dr. Elio Marín; Dr. Julio Burgos; and other prominent figures from Paraguay’s medical community.
This gathering highlights IPS Ingavi’s role as a surgical reference center and its commitment to promoting social well-being through strategic partnerships that raise the quality of the national healthcare system.
