Japanese representatives assess strengthening the maternal and childcare area at the Hospital de Clínicas

Asunción, Agencia IP.- As part of a potential international cooperation initiative, a Japan International Cooperation System (JICS) delegation visited the Hospital de Clínicas of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the National University of Asunción (FCM-UNA) on Tuesday, June 17.

The purpose of the visit was to gather information on the needs of the maternal and childcare area.

Elena Natsuki Murato and Mayuko Tonoka from the Country Assistance Division 5 of the Second Management Department of JICS formed the delegation. They toured the university hospital as part of the preliminary process for a possible donation from the Japanese government to improve services for mothers and children.

The representatives were welcomed by the FCM-UNA Dean, Mgtr. Prof. Dr. Osmar Cuenca Torres, the General Director of Clinical Services, Prof. Dr. Jorge Giubi, and Vice Directors Prof. Dr. Manuel Bernal (Service Support) and Mgtr. Dr. Fátima Ovando (Healthcare Services). They outlined the hospital’s main needs in terms of equipment and infrastructure to strengthen the maternal and childcare area.

This Japanese cooperation seeks to improve care conditions in one of the country’s most important hospitals, with the goal of providing more efficient and safer medical assistance for mothers and their children.

The initiative aligns with JICS’s mission. This general incorporated foundation is an implementing arm of Japan’s official development assistance, promoting responsible and effective procurement in developing countries.
