Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguayan health authorities are coordinating actions in preparation for upcoming on-site audits by technical teams from the United States and Japan. The country seeks to maintain its authorization to export beef to the U.S. and to open access to the Japanese market.
In this context, José Carlos Martin, the president of the National Animal Health and Quality Service (Senacsa), held a meeting with the institution’s directors to coordinate efforts.
The audit, to be conducted by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the United States, will take place from July 16 to 31.
Its objective will be to evaluate compliance with the controls established to ensure the quality and safety of products exported to the U.S., thereby maintaining the beef export authorization obtained in December 2023.
Meanwhile, from August 4 to 8, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) will conduct its first on-site inspection regarding animal health as part of the process to open the Japanese market to Paraguayan beef.
According to Senacsa, both audits are of high importance for Paraguay, given that both countries represent significant opportunities for the country’s livestock production and meat industry.
