Asunción, Agencia IP.- The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, stated that Paraguay has proven it is ready to host major sporting events, following the successful conclusion of the ASU2025 Junior Pan American Games. He announced that the country will seek to host the 2030 Youth Olympic Games.
«Paraguay is destined for great things. It has already been confirmed as the host of one of the opening matches of the FIFA World Cup 2030. Now we are pursuing the organization of the 2030 Youth Olympic Games and the Pan American Games,» said the President after the ASU2025 closing ceremony.
He highlighted the tremendous effort made by hundreds of volunteers who contributed to the success of the continental competition and praised the «very warm words from all foreign representatives» regarding the organization.
«Today, we Paraguayans are proving our worth, and we must continue to show what we are capable of,» Peña said, adding that «Paraguay is rising as a giant, led by its youth.»
In a post last Sunday, the President emphasized that the Junior Pan American Games held in Asunción will be unforgettable and will remain a milestone in the country’s history.
«We have shown the world that Paraguay is up to the challenge and can organize international events with excellence,» he stressed.
He also thanked all delegations, «the organizations that made this dream possible, and above all, the Paraguayan men and women who, with their hospitality and joy, made every visitor feel at home.»
«ASU2025 was a celebration of sport, culture, and unity among peoples. A legacy that fills us with pride and inspires us to dream big,» he said.
Investment in sports pays off and positions Paraguay
Peña also underscored the tangible results of investing in sports in strengthening Paraguay’s international standing.
«The Government of Paraguay’s strong investment in our athletes, in the federations, and in sports infrastructure is paying off, making it possible for national sports to continue growing and positioning Paraguay on the continent,» said the President as he celebrated the 23 medals won by Team Paraguay at ASU2025.
«We surpassed our goal of 20 medals, proving that effort, talent, and teamwork lead to historic results,» the President said, thanking the athletes for showing that with support, discipline, and passion, Paraguay can achieve greatness.
