Asunción, Agencia IP.- The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, stated that Paraguay proved it deserves to be a permanent stop on the World Rally calendar, beyond the three editions assigned so far. «I believe Paraguay has passed the test,» he said.
Speaking to the press, the President affirmed that hosting the World Rally in Paraguay is «a dream come true» and that the great challenge for all Paraguayans is to ensure this becomes a permanent stop on the World Rally.
In that sense, he confirmed that the 2025, 2026, and 2027 editions will be held in Paraguay. Based on what has been experienced so far, the country has shown that it is ready for great things.
«Today we are showing from Paraguay that we are truly capable not only of passing the test but of graduating and becoming a world-class stage permanently,» he stated.
He highlighted that the FIA and World Rally Championship organizers themselves told him they had never seen anything like what took place in Paraguay, which delivered a show full of energy and passion during the shakedown and ceremonial start.
«Although we still have work ahead, I believe Paraguay has passed the test,» the President said, expressing his hope that this will be “the beginning of a long chapter that Paraguay will write in world motorsport.”
He emphasized that the Government worked hard on security, health, and improvements to roads and bridges, while acknowledging that «in reality, the success belongs to Paraguay and to Paraguayans.»
«I told the FIA president that my greatest wish is to demonstrate to the motorsport world that Paraguay is ready for big things, and that this first edition and next year’s will confirm that Paraguay must be considered a permanent stop,» he stressed.
In addition to praising the exemplary behavior of the fans and the great work of volunteers, the president said that after this first edition, Paraguay will be in an even better position to host the motorsport event year after year.
«Next year, with the experience, knowledge, and all the investments that will be ready, we must surpass ourselves,» he concluded.
