Asunción, Agencia IP.- Swedish driver Oliver Solberg, who won the hearts of Paraguayan fans with his charisma, was crowned winner of the WRC2 category at the World Rally in Paraguay after finishing with the best overall time yesterday, completing the final stage in the town of Trinidad, Itapúa department.
Solberg thus capped off an incomparable run in Paraguay, where in addition to forging an exceptional connection with the local crowd, he was also able to fulfill his promise of giving the trophy to his co-driver, Elliot Edmonson, who celebrated his birthday during the rally.
«WHAT A FIGHT BACK, what a weekend! 15 stage wins, 2 punctures, over a minute lost and still… RALLY PARAGUAY WINNERS 2025,» said the driver after completing the race.
In the WRC2 category, alongside Solberg, Frenchman Yohan Rossel and Russian Nikolay Gryazin secured podium finishes, placing second and third, respectively.
Fourth place in this category went to Paraguayan Fabrizio Zaldívar, who, despite not reaching the podium, celebrated achieving his dream of competing in a World Rally on home soil.
In the main category, Frenchman Sébastien Ogier was crowned champion, together with his compatriot Vincent Landais. Adrien Fourmaux took second place, while Briton Elfyn Evans came in third.
