Communication, creativity, and planning: the invisible engines behind the success of the Rally of Paraguay

By Alejandra Duarte Albospino, Vice Minister of Communication – MITIC

The Rally of Paraguay 2025 was not only a celebration of motorsport but also proof that communication is a fundamental pillar in the organization of major international events.

From the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MITIC), we embraced this challenge with vision, planning, and commitment, accompanying every stage of the process.

Over a year ago, we began working in Itapúa, the epicenter of the Rally, with a territorial approach that involved mayors, communicators, media outlets, and community leaders. This early coordination made it possible to build local capacities, generate trust, and position the region as one of the pillars of the national narrative. Itapúa was not just a host—it was a protagonist.

Communication was not an accessory, but an integral part of the Local Organizing Committee and the Committee of Major Sporting Events, led by President Santiago Peña, who understood from the beginning that good communication means better governance. This political decision allowed us to build a coherent narrative, with identity and international projection.

From the MITIC, we contributed on multiple fronts:

  • Strategic communication as a platform for country branding.
  • Technological support for real-time broadcasts.
  • Visual creativity, including the development of the official logo and a distinctive aesthetic.
  • Comprehensive coverage through Paraguay TV, Radio Nacional, Agencia IP, and social media.
  • Citizen engagement, with an iconic helmet-shaped stand in the Fan Zone.

The results speak for themselves: more than 210,000 attendees51,000 foreign visitors, full hotel occupancy in Itapúa, 270 flights linked to the event, and nearly 1,200,000 viewers in Paraguay. In addition, 358 media professionals were accredited, with broadcasts reaching over 106 countries.

But beyond the numbers, what truly made the difference was the support of the citizens, who, with enthusiasm and responsibility, ensured that no accidents were recorded.

The passion of the Paraguayan public was praised by international drivers such as Takamoto Katsuta, Ott Tänak, Oliver Solberg, and Sébastien Ogier, who expressed their admiration for both the organization and the atmosphere.

Communication was the common thread that connected institutions, communities, and emotions. It was the invisible engine that allowed Paraguay not only to host a Rally, but to leave an indelible mark on the WRC.

Today, with pride, we can say that Paraguay communicated well, organized better, and moved the world. And like every great story, this is just the beginning. 2026 awaits us with new challenges, and from MITIC, we will continue to foster communication that inspires, connects, and transforms.

That is why we are proud to hear and read the WRC affirm that «Paraguay delivered a masterclass in rally organization.» President Peña has already set us a new challenge: we are in Rally 2026 mode, with the clear goal of surpassing what we have just achieved.

Paraguay, the giant of the region, is rising again and roaring with the strength of its people.
