Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguayan motorsport is experiencing days of glory thanks to Joshua Duerksen. The young AIX Racing driver closed a memorable weekend in Monza, Italy, with two consecutive podium finishes in Formula 2, the stepping stone to Formula 1.
On Saturday, Duerksen secured third place in the Sprint Race, earning his first points of the season after six scoreless rounds. With a strong performance, he climbed from fourth place, battling intensely on track, especially against Dino Beganovic in the final laps. «It has been a long time, but very happy to be honest. Last year we were strong in Monza, so we knew that if we did the same thing as last year,» he said after the race.
But the big highlight came on Sunday in the Feature Race, where the Paraguayan started from seventh position and crossed the finish line in second place, just behind Britain’s Luke Browning (Hitech TGR). In a race marked by multiple incidents and Safety Car restarts, Duerksen managed to keep both calm and aggressive to secure his best result in the category to date.
With these results, Duerksen now has five point-scoring finishes this season, three of them on the podium, consolidating himself as one of the revelations of the championship. His performance also boosts the morale of AIX Racing, a team that continues to show competitiveness in the demanding Formula 2 grid.
The next challenge will be in Baku, Azerbaijan, from September 19 to 21, where the driver will aim to maintain his momentum and continue writing history for Paraguayan motorsport.
