Asunción, Agencia IP.- With great success and international projection, the 16th Ibero-American Insurance Summit concluded on September 3–4 at the Central Bank of Paraguay’s Institute.
For the first time in its history, the event was held in Asunción, positioning the country as a key player in the transformation of the insurance sector in the region.
Under the theme «A Necessary Refoundation of Insurance,» more than 30 international speakers took part in debates and conferences on Insurtech innovation, sustainability, ethical leadership, artificial intelligence, financial inclusion, and climate change, consolidating the summit as a space for in-depth dialogue and public-private cooperation.
The opening session featured high-level interventions from Pasqual Llongueras, Vice President of the Ibero-American Alliance of Insurance Foundation; Gabriela Chacón, President of the Alliance of Insurance; and Jazmín Bernal Lugo, Superintendent of Insurance of Paraguay. A highlight was the strategic dialogue between Carlos Carvallo Spalding, President of the Central Bank of Paraguay, and Gabriel Mysler, Content Director of the Ibero-American Summits, who discussed the vision of a more resilient and inclusive Paraguay.
Among the most inspiring moments of the summit was the keynote lecture by Evaristo Doria, scholar at Georgia State University, titled «The Vertigo of Change: A Compass and Maps for a New Era,» which offered tools for leadership in VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous) environments.
The program also included a presentation by Pablo Wahnon, editor of Forbes Argentina, who analyzed the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence on the insurance sector, highlighting its ability to personalize policies, detect fraud, and revolutionize customer service through chatbots and underwriting assistants, while also warning about the risks of so-called «hallucinations» of AI models.
José María Palomares, President of the Alliance of Insurance Think Tank, delivered the conference «The Leadership We Deserve,» in which he proposed a leadership decalogue centered on coherence, humanism, sustainability, and trust, stressing the importance of purposeful leadership to strengthen teams and rebuild trust in organizations.
At the closing of the event, the Superintendent of Insurance of the Central Bank of Paraguay, Jazmín Bernal Lugo, announced that Paraguay will once again host the Summit in 2027, consolidating the country as the epicenter of this influential regional forum.
The summit reaffirmed the strategic role of insurance as a pillar of social and economic stability and received recognition from the Paraguayan government, being declared of National Tourist Interest by Senatur. The next edition, the 17th Ibero-American Insurance Summit, will take place in October in Monterrey, Mexico, continuing to build bridges between countries, sectors, and generations.
