«The Rally of Paraguay was a priority for President Santiago Peña, and that motivated us to do things well»

Encarnación, Agencia IP.- The communication strategy of the WRC Rally of Paraguay 2025 was recognized as a success story during the Forbes Itapúa Summit «Reinventing Paraguay», held at the Savoy Hotel in Encarnación.

The gathering brought together business leaders, authorities, and regional development representatives to discuss the present and future of Itapúa, one of the country’s most dynamic hubs.

During his remarks, the Director General of Strategic Communication and member of the Rally’s communications team, representing Paraguay’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MITIC), César Palacios, celebrated the recognition granted by Forbes and journalist Santiago Zabatiero. Palacios emphasized that the achievement was the result of more than a year of work in the field and institutional coordination.

«The fact that President Santiago Peña made the Rally of Paraguay a priority motivated us to do things well. From the day it was announced that Itapúa would be the host, we began working with the governor’s office, mayors, local journalists, and society as a whole,» Palacios stated.

The spokesperson explained that in Paraguay, the Rally was more than just a world-class sporting event; it was a communication experience that had moved audiences worldwide.

The strategy, led by MITIC, was built on a comprehensive plan that combined strategic communication, visual creativity, technological support, and a coherent narrative.

Coverage included real-time broadcasts, dissemination through television, radio, print media, and social networks, turning the Rally into a national cause. “Success was also possible thanks to our people and local media, who embraced the event and transformed it into a symbol of Paraguay, with front pages, back covers, and, of course, the magic of photography,» he added.

This recognition highlights the value of communication as a tool for territorial development and international positioning, consolidating Itapúa as a benchmark in organizing major events. “The Rally, without a doubt, was one of the best platforms to project Paraguay to the world. Neither the drivers nor the WRC had ever experienced anything quite like it before,” Palacios stressed.

Paraguay towards digital transformation

The event also served as a platform to highlight the Government’s priority in connectivity and technological development. In this regard, the MITIC representative recalled that both President Santiago Peña and Minister Gustavo Villate are working to turn Paraguay into a regional technological hub.

«We have the Digital Agenda fully underway. Our goal is to digitize as many State services as possible so that every citizen can access them quickly, easily, and safely, no matter where they live,» he noted.

Thus, Itapúa strengthens its position as the epicenter of major international events and as a driver of the country’s technological and communication development.
