Paraguay reopens its Consulate General in New York after 12 years

Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguay has officially reopened its Consulate General in New York, marking the return of the diplomatic office after 12 years. The ceremony was led by President Santiago Peña, who is in the United States for the UN General Assembly.

The renovated facility aims to provide modern, efficient, and accessible services to the Paraguayan community living in New York. «Our commitment is to offer a modern, accessible, and high-quality consular service, so that every Paraguayan living in New York feels supported and proud of their country,» President Peña emphasized during the event.
He emphasized that the consulate should be designed with the needs of Paraguayans abroad in mind, featuring faster service, larger meeting rooms, and child-friendly spaces. Peña also highlighted inclusivity measures, noting that citizens will be able to process passports without the need to bring photographs.
The reopening ceremony was attended by Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez Lezcano and Paraguay’s Ambassador to the United States, Gustavo Leite, who joined the president in reaffirming Paraguay’s commitment to strengthening ties with its diaspora in the United States.
