Asunción, Agencia IP.- President Santiago Peña met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to advance a bilateral agenda focused on economic growth, investment attraction, and security cooperation.
Peña revealed that one of the key topics discussed during the meeting was access to import quotas for Paraguayan beef in the United States market. This strategic destination has become increasingly important for Paraguay’s exports in recent years.
The two officials explored establishing a direct air route between Paraguay and the United States, considering it crucial for boosting trade and tourism between the two countries.
In addition, both sides reaffirmed their strategic partnership to advance security and nuclear energy efforts.
«We reaffirmed our strategic alliance. Soon, we will sign important cooperation agreements on security and nuclear power generation,» Peña stated.
The meeting took place following Paraguay’s match against the United States in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
