Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguay goalkeeper Orlando Gill finished the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the goalkeeper with the most saves in the tournament, according to official FIFA statistics.
The Albirroja goalkeeper recorded 28 saves in the five matches Paraguay played throughout the World Cup, establishing himself as one of the standout figures of the team led by Gustavo Alfaro.
He delivered a message of reassurance to Paraguayan fans, who can be confident that the national team has a top-level goalkeeper for years to come.
Gill topped the tournament’s goalkeeper rankings by a wide margin. Behind the Paraguayan were Eloy Room of Curaçao, with 21 saves, and Gregor Kobel of Switzerland, along with Diogo Costa of Portugal, both with 20 interventions during the 2026 World Cup.
Not even Emiliano Martínez, despite his numerous saves in Sunday’s final against Spain, managed to match the Paraguayan goalkeeper’s record.
The Golden Glove Award went to Unai Simón, goalkeeper of the tournament champions, Spain, who conceded only one goal in eight matches throughout the World Cup.
