Asunción, Agencia IP.- The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, presented his model of government this past Wednesday during an extraordinary session of his party, the Republican National Association (ANR, for its acronym in Spanish), where he expressed the importance of uniting coordinated efforts to achieve results.
Peña presented the axis of his government that was initiated on August 15, focused on achieving inclusive economic growth and positioning Paraguay as “a protagonist country” at an international level.
“Years ago, we visualize the development of Paraguay with a wide development view that cannot be based on macroeconomic numbers, but on the well-being of the citizens”, he said.
That is why the reason for his government is that the economic growth – that this year will be the biggest among the countries in Latin America – “reaches everyone”. “We must focus on the most vulnerable sectors, which is why we decrease the price of gas and fuel during the first week of our government”, he stated.
For the management of resources, he indicated that his objective is the coordination between institutions, for programs arrive to many more people in need, and not “uncoordinated”.
Management and development model
Part of this management includes the restructuration of the state, where he decreed that the Social Cabinet be led by the Ministry of Social Development (MDS, by its acronym in Spanish), remembered Peña, for better management of the resources. This measure joins others already implemented, such as the merger of state entities in the Tax Revenue Directorate and the Ministry of Economy.
Peña added that his objective is for Paraguay to develop its industrial power. He cited Taiwan as a role model, a country that counts on advanced technological development. This model will allow the country to “be that nation again, the one that Mr. Carlos Antonio López has left us”, he added.
He said it would be a “strong voice of Paraguay” in foreign policy. He added that his politics “will never be against other countries”.
