Asunción, Agencia IP.- President Santiago Peña stated that Paraguay’s unique characteristics make it the best country for investment. During the opening of the 15th Paraguay-Brazil Expo on Thursday, he highlighted that the event serves as a gateway for many investors from Brazil, the leading source of foreign direct investment.
«Paraguay has tirelessly proven to be predictable and secure for investments, with low inflation, a competitive exchange rate, and foreign capital-friendly legislation,» he said at the event, which also included Brazil’s Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and Minister of Mines and Energy Alexandre Silveira.
He emphasized the economic and trade relationship figures between the two countries: over USD 1 billion in direct investments, a trade balance of more than USD 6.5 billion in 2023, and USD 3 billion in exports to Brazil.
«Therefore, it is essential that we continue to strengthen this historical relationship, creating synergies that enable us to mutually enhance and improve our competitiveness on both regional and global scales. The complementarity of our economies represents enormous potential to strengthen production chains and promote sustainable development,» added the Paraguayan president.
Peña also highlighted Paraguay’s recent achievement of an investment-grade rating by Moody’s, «sending a strong message to investors worldwide about the reliability of our country.»
Regarding the Paraguay-Brazil Expo, now in its fifteenth edition, he noted that it is a gateway for investors and an opportunity for businesses from both countries to showcase their products and services and establish partnerships.
For his part, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira affirmed that Paraguay is an important ally, both commercially and politically. Brazil remains committed to integration, he stated, mentioning as proof the invitation from President Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva for Peña to participate in the G20 Summit, which will be held in Brazil on November 18-19.
