Paraguay reaffirms its closeness and friendship with Israel during a presidential meeting

Asunción, Agencia IP.- President of the Republic Santiago Peña conveyed to his Israeli counterpart, Isaac Herzog, «the sentiment of more than six million Paraguayans who feel very close and attached to the people of Israel» during their meeting today in Jerusalem.

The two leaders met today at the official residence in Jerusalem as part of Peña’s official visit to Israel.

«This is a moral obligation the Paraguayan people have asked us to fulfill. We are bringing the hearts and sentiments of more than six million Paraguayans who feel very close and attached to the people of Israel. We will always stand with you,» said Santiago Peña.

For his part, President Herzog welcomed his Paraguayan counterpart and emphasized that the visit would bring a bright future for both nations: «It is my great pleasure to welcome you in Israel as you inaugurate your new embassy in our eternal capital of Jerusalem,» he said.

In this context, he underscored that the friendship between the two nations is deeply rooted in shared values.

«Thank you for your friendship, and for standing firm with Israel as we continue to do all we can to bring home our hostages from the dungeons of Gaza, and as we stand firm against hatred and terror in our region,» Herzog expressed through his official account on X.

During the meeting, they remembered the 100 hostages still held by the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza, demanding their release.
