Paraguay to achieve 4% growth for a second consecutive year

Asunción, Agencia IP.- Economic growth for the end of 2024 is projected to exceed the initial estimate of 3.8%. This marks the second consecutive year surpassing 4% growth, following a similar 2016-2017 period highlighted by President Santiago Peña.

During the presentation of the conference «Paraguay–Evaluation 2024 and Perspectives 2025,» Central Bank President Carlos Carvallo announced that this year’s growth will close at around 4%, one of the highest rates in the region. He also unveiled projections for the coming year, estimating Paraguay’s growth at 3.8% in 2025.

President Peña echoed these announcements during a press conference at Mburuvicha Róga. He expressed optimism for 2025, anticipating another year of growth above 4%, aiming to replicate the milestone achieved in the 2006-2008 period.

«The only small but significant difference is that during that period, Paraguay and the rest of Latin America benefited from a commodities boom. While Paraguay grew at high rates, it was growing below the rates of other Latin American countries,» he remarked last Monday.

He noted that nearly two decades later, the situation is different. «Paraguay now boasts the highest growth rate in South America. Paraguay continues to thrive in a region that isn’t growing,» he stated.
