Asunción, Agencia IP.- The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, held discussions today with Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank, regarding Paraguay’s performance, structural reform plan, and major reform agendas to maintain its position as a leader in growth and development in the region.
The meeting also included Carlos Felipe Jaramillo, Vice President of the World Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean, and Paraguay’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rubén Ramírez.
In its latest report on Paraguay, the World Bank stated that “Paraguay has a bright future” and recognized «the remarkable economic progress achieved by Paraguay over the past two decades, thanks to institutional reforms prioritizing macroeconomic stability and an open trade and investment regime.»
«Paraguay has the potential to accelerate its transition to a high-income country. The country must implement a comprehensive strategy to address current challenges to achieve this. We are confident that, with the right policies and investments, Paraguay can fully realize its potential and create a better future for all its citizens,» said Pui Shen Yoong, Senior Economist at the World Bank.
President Peña is currently in Washington, D.C., where he will attend the inauguration of the newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump.
In addition to participating in this historic event, the Paraguayan president has planned what he described as «a very intense agenda.»
