Spanish authority highlights Paraguay’s migration security

Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguay has a low level of criminal activity associated with migration compared to other countries. According to data provided by David Agorreta Ruiz, the head of the National Center for Immigration and Borders of the Spanish Police, it is moving from a transit country to a destination.

The official conducted a training session as part of the creation of the Migration Intelligence Network, an initiative aimed at strengthening information exchange and risk analysis in migration matters among institutions.

The European Union’s Eurofront Program supports the network’s implementation, which has already been replicated in Colombia and Ecuador.

Agorreta stated that «in migration terms, Paraguay is a safe country,» according to the National Directorate of Migration (DGM). Data indicates a low incidence of migration-related crimes and a decline in Paraguay’s role as a transit destination.

The Migration Intelligence Network is a cooperative effort between the Ministry of the Interior, the Directorate of Migration, the National Intelligence Secretariat (SNI), the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad), the Secretariat for the Prevention of Money Laundering (Seprelad), the National Directorate of Civil Aviation (Dinac), and the National Police.
