Taiwan strengthens its position as the second-largest market for Paraguayan beef

Asunción, Agencia IP.- While China has suspended beef imports from six Mercosur countries, including Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, Taiwan continues to establish itself as a key partner for Paraguay’s meat industry.

In February, Taiwan purchased 7,250 tons of Paraguayan beef worth $42.94 million, representing a 120% increase compared to last year. With these figures, the Asian country is the second-largest buyer of Paraguayan beef, second only to Chile.

Bilateral trade received a new boost with the approval of Frigorífico Victoria on February 18, opening more opportunities for the national meat sector. This trend is expected to continue growing, further strengthening trade relations between Paraguay and Taiwan.

This export increase highlights the importance of the Taiwanese market for Paraguay when stability and diversification of export destinations have become strategic for the livestock sector.
