Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Head of State, Santiago Peña, met with the President of The Heritage Foundation, Kevin Roberts, and his delegation. After the meeting, President Peña highlighted their shared values of democracy, freedom, and the fight against crime and expressed appreciation that the foundation includes Paraguay in its core work areas to attract investment and foster technological development.
The meeting took place at Mburuvicha Róga, where they discussed cooperation with the United States in the fight against drug trafficking and actions aimed at improving the quality of life of Paraguayans.
The President also emphasized that The Heritage Foundation includes Paraguay in its strategic focus areas to attract investments and promote technological growth.
It’s important to mention that Heritage’s mission is to formulate and promote public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.
At the end of the meeting, Paraguay’s Foreign Minister, Rubén Ramírez, stated that joint efforts are being carried out between various institutions and the United States to promote Paraguay through a shared agenda that includes security, the fight against organized crime, and other key issues.
«Another topic we are working on together is the importance of Paraguay’s geopolitical position, its relationship with Taiwan and Israel, and the advantages this brings in maintaining coherence and consistency with the principles and values of Paraguay’s international policy — focused on freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law,» he expressed.
Minister Ramírez also recalled that the President had visited the foundation’s headquarters several times to speak about Paraguay’s policies, emphasizing promoting these values.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Javier Giménez, stated that the government is interested in strengthening ties with The Heritage Foundation, aiming for a strategic alliance to promote Paraguay as «a country full of opportunities for investment not only from the United States but from all over the world.»
«The foundation’s great strength is communication — its ability to convey, perhaps better than most U.S. institutions, public policies centered on the individual and economic growth while respecting timeless values,» Giménez added.
He concluded that the foundation does an outstanding job of communicating the public policies that Paraguay is aligning with, reflecting its core thinking: respect for human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. «We addressed a broad economic agenda and discussed the challenges of attracting more investment,» he concluded.
