Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguay has designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization due to its systematic violations of peace, human rights, and the security of the international community.
«We have expanded the designation of Hezbollah and Hamas as terrorist organizations, now covering all of their components; and, additionally, we have designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization, in both cases due to their systematic violations of peace, human rights, and the security of the international community,» stated the President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, through his official account on X.
The Presidency of the Republic of Paraguay has, on this date, through Decrees No. 3758, 3759, and 3760, decided to designate the so-called «Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps» as a terrorist organization while also expanding its previous designations to the terrorist organizations «Hamas» and «Hezbollah» to include all their components.
In this way, Paraguay reaffirms its firm and non-negotiable stance in the fight against terrorism, one of the most nefarious threats to the civilized international community, to the enforcement of human rights, democracy, and the economic and social development of nations.
At the same time, with this action, Paraguay strengthens its strategic alliances with friendly countries in this fight, such as the United States of America and Israel, and firmly commits itself to the eradication of this scourge, which recognizes neither borders nor flags and whose disappearance will only be possible through effective cooperation among all nations.
According to part of the President’s statement, the identification of entities that promote and carry out terrorist acts represents a decisive step for the international community to coordinate its actions toward their permanent dismantlement.
As part of these international efforts, the Paraguayan government has decided to include the «Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps» organization, due to its systematic involvement in human rights violations and its participation in terrorist activities on a global scale while also expanding the previous designations of «Hezbollah» and «Hamas» to all their components.
Although Paraguay had previously declared the armed militias of both entities as terrorist organizations, repeated public statements by these groups, in which no distinction is made between their armed, political, or social components, have led to the decision to extend the terrorist organization classification to their entire structures.
«With these decisions, Paraguay reaffirms its unwavering commitment to peace, international security, and the absolute respect for human rights, consolidating its position within the international community as a country firmly opposed to all forms of terrorism and strengthening its relations with allied countries in this fight,» the statement emphasizes.
