Asunción, Agencia IP.- The United States Embassy in Paraguay has announced the resumption of appointment scheduling for nonimmigrant visa applications of types F, M, and J, which correspond to academic studies, vocational training, and cultural exchange programs.
However, along with this measure, the Embassy emphasized that each visa issuance is a matter of national security. Therefore, applicant data review and verification processes will be reinforced.
As part of the requirements in place since 2019, applicants must provide all social media identifiers or usernames used in the past five years in the DS-160 application form.
The Embassy further urges applicants to set all social media account privacy settings to «public» to facilitate identity verification and determine admissibility under U.S. law.
«We use all available information to identify applicants who are not admissible to the United States, including those who may pose a threat to national security,» the Embassy stated through its social media channels.
Failure to comply with this requirement — such as omitting social media identifiers — may result in visa denial and disqualification from future applications. By electronically signing the form, applicants certify that all information provided is accurate and complete.
Those interested in applying for an F, M, or J visa can check appointment availability and access additional information by clicking this link.
These provisions are part of the expanded review and verification process implemented to safeguard the national security of the United States.
