Paraguay to host the 16th Ibero-American Insurance Summit with a strategic focus on MSMEs

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The city of Asunción is preparing to welcome more than 30 leaders from the insurance, financial, regulatory, and technology sectors across Ibero-America on September 3 and 4, during the 16th Ibero-American Insurance Summit, a high-level event that aims to be a milestone in the strategic redesign of the insurance sector in the region.

Organized by the Ibero-American Foundation Alianza del Seguro, with the support of the Paraguayan government and declared of National Tourist Interest by Senatur, the summit will take place at the Auditorium of the Central Bank of Paraguay’s Institute. Under the theme «Is it possible to refound insurance without provoking a structural crisis?» the summit invites an urgent and in-depth conversation about the insurance industry’s future amid global transformation.

One of the event’s main pillars will be the Workshop on MSMEs, which will center the discussion on the need to design insurance solutions for 97% of Paraguay’s business sector: micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Traditionally excluded from the insurance ecosystem, these productive units will take center stage in a space that aims to generate concrete proposals in coverage, financial education, advisory services, and sectoral support.

Additionally, an Insurtech Workshop will be held, where key players from the technology ecosystem will debate innovation, scalability, and regulation in the insurance field. Both workshops will produce working documents to feed into the summit’s central discussions, prioritizing action and generating proposals based on technical and practical foundations.

Key topics will be addressed over the two-day event, such as the structural refounding of insurance, new corporate and regulatory leadership, the impact of artificial intelligence and professional ethics, distribution strategies, cultural transformation, and the social perception of insurance. The role of regulators in regional stability and sustainability as a cross-cutting axis of the entire industry will also be discussed.

Pasqual Llongueras, vice president of the Insurance Alliance Foundation, organizer of the summit.

Speakers from Paraguay, Mexico, Spain, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil, as well as representatives from supranational financial and insurance organizations, will contribute to a broad, diverse, and representative vision of the Ibero-American reality.

The Ibero-American Foundation Alianza del Seguro promotes this summit to connect the insurance sector with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), fostering a more inclusive, sustainable, and socially sound industry. Initiatives such as the Green Seal, the Equality Seal, the Healthy Company Seal, and the International Program for Inclusive and Parametric Insurance reflect this forward-looking vision expected to take shape in Asunción.
