Asunción, Agencia IP.- The President of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR Court), Judge Nancy Hernández López, highlighted Paraguay’s commitment to the promotion and defense of human rights, ahead of the 180th Regular Period of Sessions, which will take place in Asunción from September 22 to 26.
«The repeated holding of sessions in Paraguay demonstrates the shared commitment to the promotion and defense of human rights in the region,» stated Hernández López, recalling that this will be the third time the country hosts the Court, following the 2005 and 2014 editions.
The magistrate emphasized that Paraguay has demonstrated a consistent commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and institutional openness, thereby positioning the country as a reference point in the Inter-American System. «The celebration of these sessions constitutes a tangible expression of that will and a space to strengthen ties with OAS Member States and with the peoples of the continent,» she said.
The sessions will be held at the Palace of Justice in Asunción, with the participation of the Court’s judges, international delegations, national authorities, and representatives of civil society.
The President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Dr. César M.
