The Government presents «Paraguay Investor Pass,» a tool to facilitate permanent residency for foreign investors

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Government of Paraguay, through the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) and the National Directorate of Migration, presented the «Paraguay Investor Pass» in Brazil. This tool allows foreign investors to obtain permanent residency directly through various investment modalities, without the need for temporary residency.

Among the options available to obtain this passport are investments of USD 150,000 in tourism projects, or USD 200,000 in the Paraguayan stock market or real estate sector.

Marco Riquelme, Minister of Industry and Commerce (MIC), explained during the presentation that this tool addresses the «need to offer greater flexibility to investors,» as many of them «seek to establish themselves in Paraguay first and subsequently develop their investment projects.»

Riquelme highlighted that the program incorporates tax benefits for investors, such as a lower tax rate on dividends for residents, reduced from 15% to 8%, and that the process is carried out primarily electronically, requiring physical presence in Paraguay only for the issuance of the identity card. All of this is handled through the General Directorate of the Unified System for Opening and Closing Companies (SUACE), which is managed by the MIC.

Paraguay, in the sights of investors

According to official immigration data from last year, Paraguay granted 40,600 residency permits, mostly to applicants from Brazil (23,526), with a projection of 80,000 by 2026.

«We are aiming to attract individuals who are truly committed to the country, streamlining procedures through a single window that integrates immigration, tax, and identification processes,» stated Jorge Kronawetter, National Director of Immigration.

He also explained that the investor certificate, issued by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), is expanding its categories to include new options such as tourism, the stock market, and the real estate sector, in addition to traditional productive investment.

With the Paraguay Investor Pass, the government seeks to position the country as a competitive destination for international investment, promoting job creation, the development of strategic sectors, and greater integration into the global market.
