About 60 Paraguayan companies are invited to an international business roundtable with Taiwan business mission

Asunción, Agencia IP.- Twenty-four Taiwanese companies arrived in Paraguay as part of the «Taiwan Trade Mission to Latin America 2024» tour, aiming to explore new opportunities and strengthen international trade ties, reported the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

Organizers expect to facilitate at least 200 meetings and invite about 60 Paraguayan companies from various sectors such as food, beverages, medical devices, information technology, and textiles, among others.

The event is supported by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (Taitra) and the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Paraguay.

«Attracting Taiwanese investments to Paraguay and strengthening ties between entrepreneurs from both nations are priorities for this government, which will result in greater benefits for our bilateral relationship,» expressed Lorenz Méndez, Deputy Minister of Industry at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, during the opening of the international business roundtable.

Also present at the event were the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), José Han; the Vice President of International Relations of the Paraguayan Industrial Union (UIP), Marco Riquelme, and the Deputy Leader of the Taiwan Trade Delegation – Meg Chen.

Taiwanese Mission

The delegation of Taiwanese entrepreneurs began their tour in Brazil, arrived in Paraguay, and will soon travel to Argentina and finally to Chile.

This business meeting represents an opportunity to establish commercial relations in a variety of sectors, including food and beverages, medical devices, information technology, and textiles, among others.

A country with advantages for investment attraction

Deputy Minister Méndez stated that Paraguay is a country that offers competitive advantages such as a high quality of life at a reasonable cost, a young workforce, competitive energy, diverse and abundant natural resources, a central location in MERCOSUR, and robust macroeconomic stability.

«We are looking ahead, identifying sectors with high potential for export diversification and those with significant potential for investment attraction. In this context, we welcome with great enthusiasm entrepreneurs from the food, beverages, medical devices, information technology, textiles, among other sectors,» she remarked.

Strengthening ties with Taiwan

With this focus, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) works on strengthening ties with strategic allies like Taiwan; diversifying the markets we export to; attracting investments in specific sectors; and generating employment and technology transfer.

«Through the Vice Ministry of Industry, in coordination with Rediex, we are working to enhance the sectors represented here today, based on 6 key action areas: international negotiations, investment attraction, export promotion, competitive intelligence, trade promotion, country branding, and commercial attachés,» emphasized Deputy Minister Méndez.
