Asunción, Agencia IP.- «Waste Treatment at the Community» is an educative project promoted by the Experimental Center for Medicinal Resources (CERM) and will be inaugurated on November 30 at 9 a.m. at the medicinal gardens of the center in Itacurubí de la Cordillera. The CERM is the founder associate of the Network of Cultural Centers and Spaces of Paraguay and Culture Point recognized by the SNC, with the support of the Municipality of Itacurubí de la Cordillera and the Itacurubí Cooperative.
The waste problem is of utmost importance in the Itacurubí district of Cordillera and throughout the planet. Just as it demands a global response, it also requires a local response.
The «Community Waste Treatment» project aims to raise awareness about the waste problem and inspire people to take action to solve the problem in the community, says Project Director Christopher Galena.
To carry out this project that aims for a clean and healthy community, it will be building a learning space where it is possible to teach people in the community, local institutions, and visitors about the impact and importance of starting the process of sustainable waste management. With this space and an interactive experience, it is planned to clean up the San Juan Pablo Segundo neighborhood to be a model for the other Itacurubí companies in the Cordillera.
This project has three stages:
– Waste treatment: The educational and interactive experience to start the process of gathering, separating, and talking about the importance of waste treatment in the community.
– The 3 ‘R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle): A continuation of the first stage by incorporating how to reuse the gathered waste.
– The participation of local institutions: With the San Juan Pablo Segundo neighborhood as an example and with the municipality’s help, this project will be extended to other local institutions, neighborhoods, and companies of Itacurubí de la Cordillera.
This summer, the first two stages of the project with a «Clean and Healthy Summer» aim to be accomplished.
